The tragic and mysterious death of 21-year-old David Hartanto. It does sound like a mystery novel title, right?
I've been following the case (or rather cases) for the past 2 weeks. Very curious of me. But unfortunately, there's a limit to the details I can access for once I google, blogs turned up more often than news. Different speculations of the cases. Many different versions. It makes finding details related to the cases very difficult.
Apparently, this case has hit the Indonesian community so hard that they are blaming Singapore for not doing this, not explain, for covering up etc. Oh yes, I'm totally pissed by what they are saying. Not to mention the "Facebook" group they created. An attempt to shame the victim into being a murder?
What happened was a tragedy. Noone wanted it to happen. Perhaps there were mistakes in what the media had published. But a coverup?
Thoughts of the police, media and NTU heads sitting down to discuss what the news should be like over a cup of coffee ran through my head. Do they really think it's possible? In such a short span of time? o.O
I finally stumbled upon a more reasonable article that makes sense.
Oh, if you are wondering.... the most ridiculous comment I've read is this
It is a quite a joke. I realised the parents are not making any sense for a 21-years old student is a full-grown man and equally capable of fighting and winning anyone. But dragging NS into the topic?
Professor Chan is a China-born man if I am not wrong. He only became a Singaporean after coming over to work in Singapore. I doubt he served NS since he's too old for it. If they want to play the blame game, they jolly well should have gotten their facts right.
Talking about the case makes me emo. It isn't right. It isn't respectful. I hate reading on suicide cases and when I saw the pictures... :(
A Buddhist friend had told me people who committed suicide will never get to reincarnate. They are heavily punished for not valuing their lives so they will have to repeat their suicidal acts every single night forever.
Maybe the answer to this case is just so simple.
Just hire someone with a third eye to revisit the scene.
Just hire a medium to call up the deceased spirit for an answer.
Those are ways of getting an answer. What's the point of creating an uproar on the Internet over what had happened and demanding an explanation when they don't even trust the professor's words? What's the point of setting up a group to speculate when none of them was even present at the scene? I hate it when they pushed all the blame to the professor when the student could have handled his emotions in a better way.
-bitchy mood on-
Countering the 101 speculations: 1. Maybe he didn't jump, he fell. Maybe. A test of whether he jumped or fell can be easily conducted by the police. You don't have to worry about that. I even bothered to look up the photos of his blood stains on the bridge. They were clear and not a bit smudged. Think at least we can rule he didn't slip and fall.
2. He ran away because he was afraid after being attacked by his professor. Like what? It's first day of school after a one week break. Which professor in the right mind will go and plan an attack on one of his many FYP students on a Monday? In terms of stress, clearly the student has more stress than the professor.
And if the student was attacked, why did he run away instead of running to look for help? He could have run towards the more crowded areas (spine) where there were definitely people. Not to some corridor.
3. The knife handle is missing. What is the police doing! They should checked for fingerprints. Maybe the prof hid it. -facepalm-
Singapore police is not so beh kan (useless) to not realise the knife is without a handle. Assuming it came with a handle, please bear in mind kitchen knives are not made like ancient weapons where obviously the handles must be fastened to the swords. Or else they fight halfway and the blade flies out to stab their own soldiers. In the midst of a struggle with huge forces exerting on the knife grabbing..... yes, it's possible for the plastic handle to break and fly off. If you have handled a kitchen knife, especially a fruit knife, you would know that it does loosen off.
4. Someone's friend's friend's relatives' neighbour that is a student under the prof said he kept a knife for cutting fruits.
That is his office. There's nothing wrong with keeping a knife for cutting fruits if he likes to eat them without skin. Keeping a knife doesn't make him a sinner.
5. And why would the student know where he kept his knife? Only the professor knows.
Like you said, since someone's friend's friend's relatives' neighbour knew about this, I don't see why the student did not know the professor's habit.
6. The prof stabbed himself and made himself look like the victim.
Try asking an old man to reach for his back. Not possible to do it unless the prof does yoga frequently...... But stabbing himself without any view of his back? He could stab the wrong area and cause his own life.
Why not suggest that the prof psycho the student to hold on to the knife for a while and then the prof threw himself on the knife. -rolls eyes-
7. Maybe the prof wants to steal his FYP project and make it his own. And that made the student furious.
If the student's FYP is so good, do you think they would dare to release word that it was not good? The police can engage another professor's help in gauging whether it's really A quality or not.
8. They removed his details from the website, like he never existed.
It's expected. Sites are taken down when searches to the site are made for the wrong reasons. In this case, it's not a cover up, but just asking you not to be busy body. Removing of information happens for other news too. Wonder why you only notice it now.
Abrupt ending.
